What is SphenoCath?

SphenoCath therapy delivers a topical anesthetic to the sphenopalatine ganglion, a nerve cluster behind the nose involved in chronic headache and facial pain. A soft catheter carries the medication through the nasal passage, so the block is done without needles or incisions.

The procedure is quick, well tolerated and avoids the side effects that come with daily systemic medication. Intranasal SPG block is described in the clinical literature as a minimally invasive option for refractory facial and headache pain.

It sits alongside our other non-drug care for headache treatment and facial pain treatment in Raleigh, Cary and Durham, NC.

When To Seek This Treatment

  • Chronic Headaches or Migraines

Frequent, intense headaches that disrupt daily life.

  • Facial or Jaw Pain

Pain centered around the TMJ or radiating into the face and temples.

  • Neck and Shoulder Tension

Muscle tightness that contributes to TMJ strain and headaches.

  • Sleep Disruptions

Difficulty sleeping due to ongoing pain or clenching-related discomfort.

Our Non-Surgical Approach

Prescription drugs bring drowsiness, dependency or short-term relief only. A dental guard protects teeth without calming nerve overactivity, and surgery carries risk without consistent results — so symptoms return while the neurological cause goes untreated. An SPG block works on that cause directly, and pairs with laser therapy or care for TMJ disorder when the jaw is involved.

  1. Targeted Nerve Relief

Calms the sphenopalatine ganglion to reduce migraine and TMJ pain.

  2. Quick Results

Most patients notice improvement within minutes of the procedure.

  3. Non-Invasive

Relief without needles, surgery or extended downtime.

  4. Long-Lasting Relief

Weeks to months of reduced symptoms, with follow-up as needed.
